Skyward Bound
A STEM EDUCATION PROGRAM
What is skyward bound?
The Skyward Bound program is an inspiring initiative designed to introduce high school students & other youth in the community to the captivating world of aviation and science related careers.
Its mission is to ignite curiosity and passion for aerospace, instill confidence in pursuing STEM- related careers, and guide students towards a future where they can boldly
reach for the stars.
Through hands-on demonstrations and group activities students will explore under water MIA aircraft crash sites and learn about various aircraft, sparking their curiosity about historical events and the importance of honoring those who serve and have served.
The Skyward Bound program for 2025 will feature Major Melanie "MACH" Kleusner, the USAF F-35 Lightning II Demonstration pilot who will perform at the Central Coast AirFest.
Students will have the exciting opportunity to meet MACH and her team, get an up-close look at the cutting-edge F-35, and hear firsthand what it's like to serve in today's military.
They'll also learn about the journey to becoming a fighter pilot - and explore many other critical roles on the team, from maintenance and engineering to operations and logistics.
